![]() I said on another post that having a 16 team postseason is enough for this season given the circumstance. But the Yankees themselves is enough to lead headlines in the World Series regardless the opponent. If it’s the Marlins their addition storyline is… Jeter has to root against the Yankees? Okay, the Marlins can only be a draw if they compete, but not dominate. ![]() If it’s the Padres, the MLB could highly market Fernando Tatis and hope he can be their Mahomes, Luka, and/or Zion going forward. Considering how bad the Hawks is and how the Falcons is no longer SB contenders, citizens from Atlanta and the state of Georgia (along with Mississippi, Alabama, North Florida, Tennessee, and the Carolinas) will ride behind the Bravos. If it’s the Braves, at least they’re a familiar team to be reckoned in America, especially from the older audiences. If it’s the Dodgers, the Dodgers will bring their WS drought storyline and also overcoming the 2017 WS (given what happened) storyline. So having the Yankees attempt to win their first WS in 11 years could be the best storyline to put out there. COVID erased all of that and let the Astros off the hook. That was going to be an all year affair whereas the Yankees haters don’t want them to win a World Series or dominate the MLB over a period of time. It’s hard to recall a specific Yankees team that was hated so much as what was transpired to be for the 2020 Houston Astros team. I’m talking on the level of Bad Boys Pistons, Laettner’s Duke, 2010-11 Heat, and 2014 Florida St football. Prior to the outbreak, it looked like the Astros were primed to become a team villain. What is great however is that the Astros is a participant, but only if they face the Dodgers could that be a great alternate hope for FOX. They could careless about their opponent. FOX wants the Yankees in the World Series. It’s been very odd on an even numerical year and I’m going to be odd on this post by getting to the point of what FOX wants its World Series to be and then talk about everything else. For the schedule two years ago, which used the prior postseason format of two Wild Card teams per league, go to page three.Ģ020 has been indescribable so many times. Stay tuned as we will be releasing full previews for each of the four Wild Card series’ Key Dates and Times for the Wild Card Roundįor those who are unaware of how the new playoff format from last season works, each league has two teams who get a bye and four teams who square off in the Wild Card round.TBS, Max, truTV (“ALTcast”), MLBN (Spanish-language)įor a look last year’s MLB playoff schedule, go to page two. When you look past the Wild Card round, the Braves are the clear favorites and that is who will be waiting for the Marlins if they can upset the Phillies. With that said, the Brewers actually won two more games than the Phillies and might have the better pitching staff to go up against. ![]() The Phillies look just as good this year, if not better, making them a way more formidable playoff opponent on paper than the Milwaukee Brewers. Looking at the bracket though, they ended up being on the right side of things.īy “winning” the five-seed, the Marlins now have to face off against their division rival, the Philadelphia Phillies, who are the defending NL champs after going from Wild Card to World Series last year. If the Diamondbacks had won on Sunday, paired with a Marlins loss, they would have been the five-seed in the NL playoff race. But it might have been a battle where the loser was the real winner. Now, remember when I said the Diamondbacks had nothing to play for on the final day of the season? Technically that was not the case, as they were in a battle with the Miami Marlins for playoff seeding.
